Visit to Strawberry Hill House

Lost Treasures Exhibition

Strawberry Hill House

Strawberry Hill House was built as the summer residence for Horace Walpole as a 'little Gothic castle' complete with battlements, towers, pinnacles and a round tower. It was meant to represent the 'Gothic' style and Walpole then went on to fill his fantasy with a celebrated collection of paintings, furniture, sculpture and curiosities. Following his death, the collection was sold and dispersed.

This special exhibition (until 24 February 2019) has brought back to Strawberry Hill some of the most important masterpieces in Horace Walpole’s astonishing collection and offers a unique opportunity to see them in their original locations.
