You can set up a Direct Debit by post by printing and filling out the form and sending it in to us. Please send all donations to: Development & Alumni Relations Office, Selwyn College, Grange Road, Cambridge CB3 9DQ.

Payroll Giving

Payroll giving is a way of making a donation direct from your salary before income tax is calculated and deducted.  If you are a basic rate taxpayer a monthly gift of £5 to Selwyn could cost you only £4 for example.  Please contact your own payroll office to find out whether they participate in payroll giving.

Shares, securities, property

Gifts of shares, securities or other properties are a very tax-efficient way of benefitting the College.  If you would like more information about giving shares please conatct the Bursar.  Tel:  01223 335 884  Email:

Matched giving

A number of companies offer matched giving schemes through which they can double or even triple charitable donations from their employees.  Please check with your HR department to see if your company participates in a matched giving scheme.

Gifts in kind

Gifts in kind take many forms, from a valuable painting, to the offer of venues and hospitality for functions, providing careers advice for current students, providing introductions to trust and foundations, and offering yoru services as a year group representative or regional contact.  Please contact us at the Development Office to discuss how gifts in kind can help the College.

Gift Aid and tax efficient giving

Gift Aid is one of the easiest ways to make your donation tax effective. The College can reclaim basic rate tax on all gifts from UK taxpayers at no extra cost to the donor, provided that the donor has paid an amount of UK income tax or capital gains tax equal to the amount reclaimed.  This boosts the value of every £1 donated by 25p.  Higher rate tax payers can reclaim up to 25% of their gift back through their self assesment tax forms as well; please contact the Development Office for more information.

Finally, if your donation is eligible for Gift Aid, please remember to sign this section on the donation form.
