The Choir of Selwyn College, Cambridge

in Concert

St Bride’s Church, Fleet Street, London

Wednesday 10 July

 St Bride's Church

Join us for an early evening concert by Selwyn College Choir on the eve of their annual summer tour.

Christopher Wren’s magnificent St Bride’s was built in 1672. Its famous tower, said to be the inspiration for the wedding cake, is the second tallest of all Wren’s churches, with only St Paul’s itself having a higher pinnacle.

The fine acoustic offered by the church ensures that it’s regularly used for orchestral and choral concerts throughout the year.

The evening’s programme is as follows, and will offer an opportunity to hear our fine choir in delightful surroundings.

Times and Seasons: Music for the Liturgical Year
James MacMillan - O radiant dawn
Raffaella Aleotti - Angelus ad pastores ait
Eric Whitacre - Lux aurumque
Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck - Hodie Beata Virgo
Philip Stopford - Nunc dimittis from the Truro Service
Francis Pilkington - Care for thy soul
Ola Gjeilo - Ubi caritas est amor
Sarah MacDonald - Crux fidelis
Samuel Scheidt - Surrexit Christus hodie
John Taverner - Dum transisset Sabbatum
William Byrd - Non vos relinquam
Thomas La Voy - Alleluia
Stephanie Martin - Dum complerentur dies Pentecostes
Eleanor Daley- Upon your heart
Abbie Betinis - Aeterna lux, Divinitas
Cecilia McDowall - Adoro te devote

The concert will commence at 7.30pm in St. Bride's Church, Fleet Street, and will be a little over an hour, with no interval.

Cost: £15.

Proceeds of the concert will go to supporting the Choir’s forthcoming tour of the US.

Guests are warmly welcome.
